DREAM HOUSE
‘Of course, thanks to the house, a great many of our memories are stored and all our lives we return to them. Sometimes the house of the future is better built, lighter and larger than all the houses of the past.
Maybe it’s a good thing to keep a few dreams of a house that we shall live in later, always later, so much later in fact we shall never have time to achieve it. Late in life and with indomitable courage we continue to say what we are going to do what we have not yet done:
WE ARE GOING TO BUILD A HOUSE.’
Gaston Bachelard, The Poetics of Space, La Poétique de l’Espace,Abridged ) 1958.
